Paris s'éveille

Invasion

Hitch-hiking from Grenoble to Paris was really easy: one car took me just after Lyon, then a big lorry drove me up to the Parisian «périphérique». All in all, it took about 10 hours and only two vehicles.

We arrived at Paris a bit before 6AM, floating two meters above the highway in the cabin of the lorry. The road was already packed with all kinds of vehicle when the driver dropped me at «Porte d'Italie».

I took a Velib, cycled half an hour along the «Maréchaux» towards the house of my sister, found a few «croissants», and rang the bell at around 7AM. We took my adorable niece to her nearby school, before I reached her small but comfortable bed to finish my night.

Via Corda

Yesterday we went off to grab a tandem at the train station. They have these city bikes for rent by the council for quite cheap, and one of them is a tandem bike. We packed a few clothes and a lot of water and left in the evening to go the house of Romain, who leaves 60 km from Grenoble.

The cycle track along the Isère river is really nice, and it was quite magical to cycle it until after dusk, synchronised on the tandem. We then had to climb a few kilometers of road up until the house, and finished cycling at about 9pm, after a bit more than three hours.

Romain was waiting for us with in his beautiful house, with a nice meal. His kids were already in bed, and when we woke up in the morning, they had already left for school. He prepared some gear and we drove off to the start of the Via Corda of St-Julien-en-Vercors.

Leaving Barcelona

Hitch-hiking from Barcelona to Grenoble

Today was my last day in Barcelona. I finished cleaning up the flat, then went in the upper part of the city to give back the keys. I am know in the street with my backpack and another one heavily loaded with electronics: hard disks, laptops.

Elena gave me a ride to the first gas station on the highway, North of Barcelona. With the help of the Polish Windsurf Youth Team, in a van loaded with heaps of windsurfs, a German guy, with his trunk loaded with stepper bikes, and a few more early morning workers, I reached Grenoble, just in time to finish lunch with my brother and Xtoo.

A big thank you to all my friends who helped me packing my things and emptying the flat until the last minute. I already miss you. Don't forget to join me some day on the road.
